Today we discussed the difference between summary and and theme. A summary decribes what happened. The theme of a story answers this question: what did I learn that is true, or that the author believes is true?

READ 258-262 "The People Could Fly"
Answer the following questions:

1. Provide a summary for the story. (4-5 sentences)
2. What is the theme of the story?
3. Explain how the Somebody Wanted But So technique can be used to make a summary.
4. Answer PRACTICE 2 on page 363. (1-5)
